"There is something quite special about
Boiler Room Theatre's current rendition of Andrew Lloyd Webber's
classic rock opera. Perhaps it is the multi-talented
cast's youthful spirit or the seasoned production team's
strong
vision... Co-directed by musical director Jamey Green and
choreographer Billy Ditty, this Jesus Christ Superstar proves
to be as relevant as ever. It's a remarkably fresh
staging anchored by outstanding musicianship and vocals." --

Jesus Christ Superstar
Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber
Lyrics
by Tim Rice
August 21 - September 19, 2009
It seems especially fitting that the
first rock opera, created as a concept album at the end
of the turbulent '60s,
should have at its center a social and political rebel. Jesus'
meteor-like rise in renown provides, as the title suggests,
a parallel
to contemporary celebrity worship. As his radical teachings
are evermore embraced, Judas increasingly questions the enlightened
motives of this new prophet, resulting in betrayal. Christ's
final days are dramatized with emotional intensity, thought-provoking
edge and explosive theatricality. Propelled by a stirring
score, by turns driving and majestic, satirical and tender,
Jesus Christ Superstar illuminates the transcendent power
of the human spirit with a passion that goes straight to
the heart.
Starring Ben Van Diepen as Jesus,
Ciaran McCarthy as Judas, and Joann Coleman as Mary Magdalene.
Featuring Scott Rice, Alan Lee, Lauri Gregoire, Will Sevier,
Scott Stewart, Devin Clevenger, Justin Bourdet, Mike Baum,
Laura Thomas Sonn and Nancy Whitehead. Cast also includes

Candilora, Stephanie Jones Benton and Anna Flautt.

and Billy
Ditty
