'STAGE TRUMPS SCREEN'
"Despite all the Oscar hoopla, Chicago is much better as a play than as a film..." Click here to read the full review by the Nashville Scene

The first locally-produced, professional production of Chicago
in more than a decade!

Chicago
Music by John Kander, Lyrics by Fred Ebb
Book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse

Produced, Directed and Designed by
Lewis Kempfer

May 9 - June 7, 2003

Still playing on Broadway, and now an Academy Award-winning film, Chicago is one of the Great White Way's hottest shows -- and we're bringing it to Franklin for the first time! From creators John Kander, Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, Chicago is the kiss-and-tell tale of Roxie Hart, a chorus girl who kills her lover as a career move; Billy Flynn, a sharp lawyer who turns Roxie into a celebrity; and Velma Kelly, a dancing jailbird with an ear for headlines and an eye for talent.

Chicago, a musical of crime, corruption, and murderous chorus cuties, is packed with the influence of vaudeville and features dazzling choreography in the style of Bob Fosse. Visit us for a not-so-sentimental trip to a pizzazz-packed universe of speakeasies, prison cells, and brassy singers!

Chicago, winner of six 1997 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival, is a loving look back at vaudeville, a timely satire of the justice system, and a reminder of what great theatre can be.

Rated PG-13 for adult content.
