The Most Hilarious
Version of the Classic Dickens Tale You'll Ever See!
A Dickens of A Christmas Carol
A Play by Mark Landon
Smith
November 22 - December 21, 2002
Get ready for a completely different adaptation of the holiday
classic! From the bonny shores of England comes the Stykes-Upon-Thump
Repertory Theatre Company, a stuffy old travelling troupe
embarking on their "15th annual farewell tour" of
the Dickens tale. When the leading lady's ill-prepared understudy
gets thrust onstage at the last moment, roles are shuffled
and poor Cynthia finds herself at center stage -- until the
leading lady returns at midpoint, determined to reclaim her
roles. Everything that could possibly go wrong does, to hilarious,
ridiculous results! A holiday treat for the whole family.

A PLAYFUL CHRISTMAS
Boiler Room Theatre stages daffy alternative to standard holiday
fare
"In its lovably daffy way, this lighthearted take on
Dickens makes for solidly alternative family holiday fare...
All is to the benefit of Boiler Room's audience, who are treated
to rickety set pieces, repeatedly blown cues, hammy overacting,
cheesy fake snow, costume mishaps, noisy backstage confusion,
wrong entrances--in short, anything that might go wrong does...Mark
Landon Smith's fractured script moves efficiently through
the Dickensian icons (Ebenezer Scrooge, the various ghosts,
Tiny Tim, the traditional Christmas imagery), yet leaves the
actors plenty of room to make merry under Laura Green's swift,
competent directing....The intentionally amateurish--and hence
quite appropriate--setting is by Corbin Green, and the well-wrought
costumes are by Erin Parker.
